Celebrating Dell’s First Scottish Birthday/ Dell Computers
The Brief
Dell opened its Scottish business centre in Glasgow in 2005. The global IT firm’s Scottish profile had been low for its first year of operation.
We were appointed by Dell to raise the firm’s profile in Scotland, increase positive coverage in the Scottish business and technical media, and encourage and highlight the local community work undertaken by Scottish Dell staff.
What We Did
- We worked with Dell to create a splash around the business centre’s first birthday. A massive birthday banner was placed on Dell’s Glasgow building – clearly visible from the busy M8 motorway.
- We suggested and helped to create a community event in a nearby shopping centre, offering local mums the chance to have their babies photographed in return for a £1 donation to children’s charity NCH.
- We placed articles in local, business and trade media based around the success of Dell’s first year in Scotland.
- We organised profiles of Dell Scotland’s general manager.
What We Achieved
- Overwhelmingly positive coverage of Dell’s first birthday and the shopping centre event was secured in national, local, community and technical media.
- The baby portrait event was incredibly popular, with local mothers queuing to take part.
- Local MSPs and councillors wrote to Dell to congratulate them on a successful first year.
